On toxins

"Here Today, Gone Tomorrow"

A dream is a strongly desired goal marked by abstraction or release from reality, at least the dictionary says. Many hopes and dreams are believed to be only fantasy, not truth. Contrasting, I believe any dream can come true if you let it happen. Contrary to my dreams, I believe we will be opposed by a grueling force--our ecosystem's safety. My dream for the future is for our world to be rid of pollution and full of rife animals. Before this, our world needs to protect our ecosystem before a vile mass overtakes us.

For one thing, our world will suffer, and the people within will undergo pain. Pollution will surround the planet, and air will be poisoned. To stop the distress, the air is to be cleaned. CFCs should be rid of by using non-aerosol sprays, and smog from cars should be checked upon. The natural pollutants, such as dust, pollen, and mold, also take blame for the contamination, but all of us can terminate it. As a result, the greenhouse effect will take place, and our world will die. There is no reason for the people of the world to be environmentally unaware.

Also, water is being clogged up by toxins. Illegal dumpings are taking place, but the state's water authorities are not doing much to clean it up. Only a few districts are able to supply water treatment programs, but many others are overtaken by debts. We, the people of the Earth, are the individuals responsible for the pollution, so we should take the responsibility of cleaning it up. Anybody can volunteer a day to clean water pollution, so I hope many more people can perform a great deed for the world.

Finally, land is contaminated with trash and toxic waste. The trash is being littered by careless, irresponsible persons. Throwing trash in public parks, streets, and beaches, these people do not realize the damage they have done. An innocent bird could become entangled in a six-pack ring, and even a stray pet could be suffocated in a plastic shopping bag. Damaging the dump sites, toxic wastes invade the land. Some reckless nuclear power plants believe that dumping chemicals in public dump sites, such as an Indian reservation, is all right. I hope and dream this will all become only a past memory.

In other words, our world depends on our hospitality. Opposite my dreams, this all will happen. We have benefited from the natural resources for many years, but many people do not appreciate what the world has given to us. They destroy the land, contaminate water, and permeate the air with dangerous chemicals. This beautiful land is deteriorating because of our unawareness, and we all can help. We can clean the land, water, and air before all of us will grieve over our past doings. I hope and dream many more people will become concerned with this topic, and that I can really trust the people of the world with our Earth.
