FEAR OF SOMETHING POORLY UNDERSTOOD OR UNKNOWN:
THE FEAR WAS THAT THE KU KLUX KLAN WOULD COME AND TORTURE THEM. THE KLAN WOULD KILL, MUTILATE, AND EVEN BRAND SOME PEOPLE WITH ACID. THE KU KLUX KLAN WAS MADE BECAUSE THE MEMBERS FEARED THE OTHER RACES, ESPECIALLY THE BLACKS, JEWS, ROMAN CATHOLIC, AND WHITE REPUBLICANS. THIS FEAR BEGAN IN 1865, WHEN THE BLACK SLAVES BECAME FREE AND COULD VOTE. BELIEVING THE OTHER RACES WOULD DOMINATE THE WHITE DEMOCRATS, THEY HUNTED THEM DOWN. THIS KLAN ORIGINATED IN PULSAKI, TENNESSEE. THE KLAN AFFECTED THE MAIN CULTURE BECAUSE THEY MADE THEM FEAR THE KLAN. PEOPLE WOULD BE KILLED AND TORTURED, AND AMERICA GAVE TRAVELERS BAD IMPRESSIONS OF IT.
POLITICAL CHANGES OR UNREST IN SOCIETY

THE POLITICAL CHANGES MADE WERE THAT THE KLAN WON POLITICAL POWER IN INDIANA, OKLAHOMA, OREGON, AND THE OLD SOUTH. THE POLITICAL CHANGES HAPPENED IN THE SECOND FORMATION OF THE KU KLUX KLAN. THE PROBLEM WAS THAT THE KKK WAS TORTURING AND EVEN KILLING INNOCENT PEOPLE AND NOT GETTING CAUGHT. THEY WOULD CAUSE ANXIETY IN THE SOCIETY BECAUSE THE PEOPLE EXTREMELY FEARED FOR THEIR LIVES. THEY KNEW HOW FAR THESE MALICIOUS PEOPLE WOULD GO TO PUNISH AND TORTURE THE BLACKS, JEWS, AND OTHER RACES OF INNOCENT PEOPLE.
Power Seekers
The head power seekers were the clan leaders, or Imperial Wizards. The thousands of other Klan followers could be considered the power seekers also. To gain power, they held meetings where viewers can witness a burning of crosses, a branding, or another torture. They also gained power by participating in parades and having Klan - endorsed candidates. The Klan got very far in the 1920's, having about 2,000,000 members across the country, but later on, everything got worse. In the 1930's, the number of Klan members dropped to as low as 40,000 people, but the level will rise again.
