condensed into one brilliant movie. Another excellent one to be exact.
Im not going into the details of this movie, but im going to rant about my new obsession, BRIAN SLADE!!!!! Portrayed by the actor Jonathan Rhys-Meyers in the movie Velvet Goldmine, Brian slade transforms and defies and does lots of stuff in this movie... wait.. i told you i wouldnt tell anything about the movie.. so i wont. ... and sorry for referring to Jonathan rhys-meyers as Brian for the whole passage im writing. im just referring to his character :) and i will refer to Ewan McGregor as Ewan cos its just too weird to refer to him as Curt. its just not right. so i will refer to them as Brian Slade and Ewan.. ok? ok.
Brian slade was a brilliant glam-rock singer in this movie, portraying an idol for glitter-rockers of the 1970's. i dont really know, but ive heard things about him being an allusion to David bowie and the 70s glitter roxy music era. but i dont mind. ive seen the movie 5 times now ... maybe im obsessed... but i need to see it like 2 more times to be able to decipher the symbols and answers from the movie :) and i need to see where some of the songs fit in... Shudder to Think on the soundtrack is wonderful, as well as Thom Yorke and Jonny G and Bernard in the Venus in Furs... but i need help deciphering the lyrics from these songs!! if anyone is willing to help, please email me! lilybud@bigfoot.com
the soundtrack to Velvet Goldmine doesn't have the same effect if Brians not wearing an off the shoulder purple sequin leotard... but you can look a picture of him in it and just imagine the glamour :) theres many a time where im squealing while watching this movie-- Him and Ewan on stage, the Mod Suit era, music videos, platform boots, everything :)
